February 8th Dinner Event

Jim Monroe was born and raised in Huntingtonville, just outside of Watertown, NY.  He graduated from Watertown High School in 1968 and was drafted into the US Army in 1970.  Being a conscientious objector he was trained as a medic in San Antonio, Texas and the served the remainder of his tour of duty at Fort Rucker, Alabama where helicopter pilots were trained for Vietnam.  It was at Fort Rucker that an army buddy first led him to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Jim continued serving the Lord in a local church in Ozark, Alabama for a year after his discharge from the army.  He served there in the children and youth ministries.

Jim moved back to Watertown in 1972.  From 1973 -1999 he worked as a draftsman for Jefferson County Tax Mapping Department.  Jim and his wife Christine built and owned Onsite Testing Services, Inc., a local business that develops and coordinates drug and alcohol testing programs for companies throughout New York State.

Over the years Jim has served in many different positions including Sunday school teacher, youth leader, elder, education director, and associate pastor.  His wife has served in music ministry in the various churches they have attended.  Currently they serve at First Baptist Church in Watertown, NY.

In 1978 Cliff asked Jesus Christ to come into his life at an Oswego State University campus bible study.  In 1979 he was appointed as a police officer with the Watertown Police Department and retired in 1999 as “A” Platoon Lieutenant.  During those years Cliff was involved in a FGBMFI Chapter called Peace Officers for Christ, reaching out to fellow police officers with the full gospel message.  He was appointed Chief of Police for the Carthage, N.Y Police Department in August 1999 and retired from full-time law enforcement in November of 2001.  He has conducted and taught in police academies and currently is a Criminal Justice adjunct instructor at Jefferson Community College, Watertown NY.

Cliff has been involved in FGBMFI for 38 years and served 10 years as the President of the Watertown Chapter.  Cliff desires to stay attached to Jesus Christ in a close relationship.  He says, “Only when we abide in Christ can we hope to bear any fruit in our lives.”

Cliff and his wife Eydie have been married 40 years and have two grown children, a son Justin, and a daughter/son-in-law Jaymilyn and Bill McMahon and 2 grandchildren, Ella and William.
