Deleha Decker is a 22-year-old, Dexter native with a serving heart and a defined purpose.  She graduated from General Brown High School in 2014 as the salutatorian of her class.  During her high school career, she enjoyed playing sports, working backstage for the musical, playing drums in the band, dancing, tutoring, volunteering, doing the daily announcements, heading prom committee, and many other extracurricular activities.  After her time at General Brown came to an end, she went on to attend Jefferson Community College in which she obtained two associate degrees in two years (one in business and one in accounting) all while participating in NJCAA soccer and softball, working two jobs, tutoring, taking notes for disabled students, leading a team of campus orientation and retention educators, planning, designing and executing events for new students and working as a “model” for the marketing and public relations department.  During this time, Deleha was named to the President’s List and earned many other achievements and awards for her 102 credits and 3.96 overall GPA.
For many years, Deleha has also been actively volunteering for a mission created by her mother, Denise Decker, called the Need to Feed.  Each year around Christmastime, Denise, Deleha and a plethora of other volunteers supply families in need with toys and the necessary ingredients to make a Christmas dinner (ham/turkey, potatoes, brownies, coffee, milk, bread, butter, stuffing, fruits, veggies, pickles, applesauce, hot cocoa, etc.).  During this time, over 500 families have been provided for.  Each year, God graciously blesses the mission with His presence, His blessings and His honor.

After attending JCC, Deleha continued her collegiate career at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where she finished an online Merchandising and Marketing associate degree in just ten months.  During this time, she faced several “slumps,” hardships and struggles that led her to be captive by the enemy.  Soon after graduation, her family switched to the First Baptist Church in Watertown, and after hearing Pastor Jeff speak, she gave her life to Christ and was baptized soon thereafter.

Currently, Deleha works as a key holder at a retail store in the mall, continues to attend church at the First Baptist Church, works in the church’s sound booth, is a Children’s Church leader, attends Jim Monroe’s bible study and is working to both learn more about and strengthen her relationship with Christ.  She aspires to soon return to college to study Media, Communications, Graphic Design and Photography to one day work as an influencer who combines her many passions in life to aid individuals in their walk with Christ.

Deleha would like to say thank you to all those who could attend this evening to hear her speak.
